A Lifelong Journey in Karate
I began training in karate at the age of seven under the guidance of world-renowned Sensei Ian Cuthbert (8th Dan), head of the United Karate Association (UKA).
By twelve, I had earned my first Dan black belt and soon turned my focus to competition- winning consecutive British titles from age 13 to 18 and my first European Championship at 15.
Over more than two decades in karate, I’ve had the privilege of representing England and achieving success on the world stage, experiences that now shape the way I teach and inspire my students.
Achievements and Milestones
After winning my third European title in 2024, I retired from competition to focus on teaching and coaching- a decision inspired by watching my own students begin to earn international recognition, including England squad selections and world titles of their own.

My Teaching Philosophy
For me, karate is far more than a martial art- it’s a pathway to confidence, discipline and resilience. I strive to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves, grow both physically and mentally, and enjoy every step of their journey.
As a mother, I understand the importance of patience, encouragement and creating a safe, nurturing space for children to learn. This perspective helps me connect with my students, recognise their individual needs, and guide them with empathy and understanding.
My goal is to help every student discover their potential- developing strength, focus and respect that extend well beyond the dojo.
