Building Confident, Focused and Active Kids

Since starting karate, we have found that Sensei Shauna's way of teaching is fun, yet structured and disciplined, and you can see the children engaging and learning new skills. Watching my own child from 4years old, I can see the huge difference in his skills and how much he has progressed and developed within the dojo. Sensei Shauna knows Alfie's learning styles and works with his as an individual to get the best out of him. Sensei Shauna is a real expert within her field and always guides children to their full potential. There are plenty of opportunities for competitions and building upon skills learnt such as grading. Alfie is on the Junior league team, with Sensei Shauna being his biggest champion and celebrates his achievements and attempts with him. Karate has been a grounding foundation within our house, and we are looking forward to seeing Alfie continue to progress.

I have learnt how to defend myself, as well as attack when needed. I like the sparring in karate, as its a great way to get release and control my emotions in a safe way. I like learning new skills and techniques. Kata is hard, but fun to learn. Training is hard, but fun. I like the warm up and it's always different and warms our whole body up. Sensei Shauna is a good Sensei and knows how to do techniques sharp and tidy. Sensei Shauna teaches us and guides you to what she's knows we can do. Sensei Shauna knows and understands me. Shauna knows my potential, and pushes me to do my best.

I’ve had the privilege of watching my son grow from a small five-year-old boy into a confident, well-mannered young teenager, and I truly believe that karate has played a huge part in that transformation. None of this would have been possible without his incredible sensei, Shauna Carroll. Sensei Shauna is not only a highly respected world champion, but also an outstanding teacher who brings out the very best in her students. Her deep understanding of her sport, combined with her patience, discipline, and encouragement, makes her an exceptional coach and mentor. She has a remarkable ability to connect with her students—instilling confidence, respect, and perseverance in each of them. We feel extremely fortunate to have her guidance and support and I can’t thank her enough for the positive impact she’s had on my sons life who achieved his black belt (at 13 years of age) and competed at European and world level karate competitions.

Shauna is an absolutely amazing karate teacher! She provides her students with incredible opportunities from local competitions to representing the club abroad. Her classes are always perfectly pitched to each age and ability, combining fun with discipline and determination. She goes above and beyond to support every child’s progress and enjoyment. Shauna creates an environment where children not only learn karate but also gain confidence, life skills, lasting friendships, and a true sense of achievement. We feel so lucky to have her as a Sensei. She inspires her students to be their best, both in and out of the dojo.
